The Israeli ceramics director doesn't understand this rain that's been falling continuously since she got here on Sunday. Where she comes from, there is a rainy season. Then the rain stops. Here, there is rain in any season. And when it falls daily for weeks on end, we become obsessed with the weather.Last night, the cashier at our local grocery store spoke to me about when the sun might shine again. People are wet and grouchy. And it's cold here in New Hampshire. The thing is that as soon as the weather lifts, people will complain about something else, like the heat. Or the bugs.
Constant rainfall can lead to depression. So, it is times like these that require extra fortitude to stay focused on the positive.
What's good about the rain?
1) I have saved so much money on water this year as I haven't yet turned on my sprinkler system.
2) I can appreciate that I have my brightly colored rain boots and umbrella to keep me dry.
3) It's kind of fun to jump in puddles at any age!
4) There is something cozy about the sound of the rain falling.
5) Crops will grow well.
6) The sun will come out, and I will really appreciate it when it does!
I challenge you to add something to my list. What can you think of that is positive about all this rain?
Haven't had a chance to let any of my plants die from neglect since the rain is taking care of them for me!
ReplyDeletePermission to cuddle up with good books under the blankets and listen to the rain.
The bird poop on my adirondack chairs are getting washed away daily- phew!
Great list, Peal! Thanks for your wonderful additions.
ReplyDeleteIt has been raining nonstop! I can't wait for the sun to come out again.
ReplyDeleteOne good thing- it's cool enough so I can bake cookies in July! I miss baking when the summer months come.
Love that one, Tori! Soon it will be hot out and we will complain about the heat. Happy baking!
